There’s plenty happening in fresh produce this week, with great local value across the range and some exciting seasonal changes on the way.
Weekend value in fresh produce
Red capsicum continues to offer exceptional value and quality. Our 1kg bags of red capsicum are just $2.99 this weekend, with stock coming from Stanthorpe and Bundaberg.
Tomato prices have risen as supply tightens. However, you can still pick up 1kg Gourmet Tomato bags for $2.99.
Local Gatton broccoli has dropped sharply in price. Choose a 750g bag for $2.99, or buy loose broccoli for $5.99 per kg – down from $9.99 per kg last week.
We also have great local Lockyer Valley beetroot in store. Pick up 1kg bags for $2.99 and add grated fresh beetroot to homemade burger patties for extra colour and flavour.
Strawberry season has arrived
Local strawberry supply has lifted strongly this week, and the eating quality has been excellent. Look for our two 500g strawberry punnet deal in store this weekend.
Blueberries have also been tasting great, although supply began to tighten later in the week. If you see them in store, now is a great time to enjoy them.
Avocados and grapes
Hass avocados have continued to fall in price, with good-quality Queensland fruit now available. Don’t miss this weekend’s offer of two avocados for $4.
Australian grape season has now finished, so stores will move to USA red and green grapes from this weekend. While they are imported, the fruit is eating very well. Please note that prices are higher due to import and transport costs.
What’s coming next
The first Northern Territory mangoes of the season are beginning to arrive. Quality will improve over the coming week as the season gets underway.
Mushroom supply remains very short, with limited local stock available. Supply should improve slightly next week, although prices may remain higher for the next fortnight.
